POS Platform Engineering & Lab Lead
Leading Retail Consulting Firm — Gurugram, India
Platform: Oracle Retail · Type: Full-time
Experience: 9-12 years
Modules: Xstore
Job description
Location: NCR (In-office) | Experience: 8+ years | Type: Full-time
About the Role
The POS Platform Engineering & Lab Lead is the single point of accountability for keeping all POS lab environments — development, test, and pre-production — stable, patched, and store-deployment ready. You own the infrastructure and platform layer that every other POS workstream (dev, QA, release) depends on.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain all Xstore/Xcenter lab environments (dev, test, pre-prod) — builds, patches, upgrades, and environment refreshes
Install, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Oracle Retail Xstore POS and Xcenter/Xadmin across all non-prod environments
Manage environment parity across lab, SIT, UAT, and pre-production to prevent "works in dev, breaks in store" issues
Coordinate lab access, environment booking, and change windows across dev, QA, and release teams
Lead root-cause troubleshooting for lab/environment issues — connectivity, service failures, config drift, DB sync issues
Manage store hardware/peripheral simulation setups (till, scanner, printer, payment device emulation) in lab environments
Partner with release management on environment readiness gates ahead of each deployment wave
Maintain runbooks, environment topology documentation, and patch/version tracking across the lab estate
Act as escalation point when lab environment issues block dev/QA/release timelines
Must-Have Skills
8+ years in IT/retail technology roles, including 3+ years in release management, lab management, or store systems environment ownership
Hands-on experience installing, patching, and troubleshooting Oracle Retail Xstore POS and Xcenter/Xadmin
Strong Linux/Windows server administration and networking fundamentals
Experience managing multiple parallel non-prod environments in a retail/enterprise setting
Working knowledge of DB administration (Oracle DB) sufficient for environment refresh/sync tasks
Strong ownership mindset — this role is the "environments always work" accountability point
Nice to Have
Exposure to NRF OCI-containerized Xstore deployments (Docker/Kubernetes)
Store hardware/peripheral integration and simulation experience
Scripting (Shell/PowerShell/Python) for environment automation
