Sr Integration Engineer
Landmark — Bengaluru, India
Platform: Oracle Retail · Type: Full-time
Experience: 6-8 years
Modules: RMS, RPM, ReSA, PL/SQL
Job description
JOB PURPOSE
The Integration Engineer designs, builds, and supports the integrations that connect JMC — our microservices-based, API-first commerce platform — to the wider retail and enterprise ecosystem. Operating across API gateways, integration middleware, event streaming, database and file synchronisation, and data platforms, the role delivers reliable, secure, high-throughput data exchange between the point of sale and systems spanning merchandising, pricing, sales audit, finance, tax and compliance, payments, workforce, and analytics. The successful candidate owns integrations end to end — from solution design and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support — ensuring data flows accurately and on time across every store, channel, and market, while upholding strong engineering, security, and governance standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Integration Design & Development
API Development & Management: Design, develop, secure, and publish APIs across IBM API Gateway and Kong Enterprise — defining gateway policies, authentication, rate limiting, throttling, and versioning, and managing the full API lifecycle from specification (OpenAPI/Swagger) to retirement.
Middleware & Orchestration: Build and maintain integration flows and orchestrations across the middleware layer — connectors, data transformations, routing, and error handling — between JMC and enterprise systems.
Microservices Development: Design and extend Java and Spring Boot microservices and REST/event-based interfaces that expose or consume JMC data, following clean-code and API-contract standards.
Data Synchronisation: Implement and support store-to-enterprise synchronisation via SymmetryDS — channel configuration, conflict handling, and reload/repair of failed batches.
Analytics & Data Pipelines: Build and maintain data pipelines into Databricks for reporting, analytics, and reconciliation use cases.
Sales Audit Integration: Develop and maintain the RESA (Oracle Retail Sales Audit) integration layers that deliver sales data for reconciliation, and the inbound merchandise and price feeds from RMS and RPM.
Data Flow, Reliability & Production Support
End-to-End Data Flow: Ensure accurate, timely exchange of sales, pricing, merchandise, tax, payment, HCM, and inventory data across register to Back Office to Central Office and all downstream systems.
Monitoring & Observability: Instrument integrations with logging, metrics, alerting, and dashboards (Splunk / ELK-Kibana / Grafana or equivalent) to detect and pre-empt failures.
Incident & Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve integration failures, API errors, message and queue backlogs, and reconciliation mismatches; drive permanent, well-documented fixes.
Performance & Resilience: Tune throughput and latency, and harden flows with retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, and dead-letter handling to sustain high transaction volumes.
Delivery, Security & Governance
CI/CD & Environments: Own build, test, and deployment pipelines and promote integrations across DEV/QA/UAT/PROD and multi-store, multi-region environments.
Security & Compliance: Apply OAuth2 and token-based authentication, secure secret and credential management, and PCI-DSS-aligned handling of payment and cardholder data.
API Governance & Standards: Enforce API design standards, contracts, and reuse, and curate the API catalogue across the gateways.
Documentation & Enablement: Produce interface specifications, runbooks, and support documentation, and enable L2 and L3 support teams to operate integrations.
Collaboration: Partner with product and Squad, platform, vendor, and business teams to deliver new integrations and enhancements.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 5+ years designing and building enterprise integrations, ideally in retail or another high-transaction, multi-site environment.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Platform Exposure: Hands-on experience integrating with a microservices/API-first commerce or POS platform (JMC or similar).
Retail Data Domains: Solid understanding of sales, pricing, merchandising, sales-audit, inventory, and financial reconciliation data flows.
Delivery Approach: Comfortable working in Agile squads with modern engineering practices — code review, version control, and automated testing.
Required Skills
API Gateways: Hands-on with IBM API Gateway and Kong Enterprise — policy design, security, publishing, and lifecycle management.
Integration Middleware: Strong experience building integration flows on an enterprise integration/middleware platform — connectors, transformations, routing, and error handling.
Java & Microservices: Proficient in Java and Spring Boot with REST APIs, JSON, and event/message-based integration.
Messaging & Streaming: Kafka or an equivalent broker — topics, consumers, streaming, and dead-letter handling.
