Job description
We’re looking for a Technical Development Lead – Merchandise & Supply Chain to lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of technology solutions that support our merchandise, supply chain and order management capabilities.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll guide developers, shape engineering standards, review solution designs and partner closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, architects, vendors and offshore partners to deliver reliable, scalable and secure solutions.
What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll provide technical direction across solution design, development, testing, deployment and support for key Merchandise and Supply Chain systems.
You will:
Lead and mentor developers and senior developers across onshore and offshore delivery.
Provide technical direction across solution design, development, testing, deployment and support activities.
Conduct code, design and architecture reviews to ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, reliable and fit for purpose.
Translate business requirements into practical technical designs, estimates and implementation plans.
Design, develop and oversee Oracle-based solutions, including database objects, PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, forms, reports and integrations.
Lead the investigation and resolution of complex production issues, data inconsistencies, performance bottlenecks and integration failures.
Optimise database and application performance through SQL tuning, indexing, batch process review and proactive problem management.
Guide the design and delivery of integrations across Oracle Retail, order management, middleware and enterprise platforms such as Workato, Kafka and Automic.
Promote DevOps practices for database and application deployment, including CI/CD and automated deployment of scripts.
Partner with delivery leads, project managers, product owners and business stakeholders to shape scope, clarify requirements and manage technical dependencies.
Build team capability through coaching, knowledge sharing, peer review and clear technical guidance.
Identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce manual effort, improve deployment quality and strengthen production support.
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring significant experience in software development, Oracle development, database engineering or enterprise application delivery, ideally gained in a complex retail, merchandise, supply chain or order management environment.
You will have:
Strong Oracle Retail experience, ideally within Merchandise and Supply Chain capabilities.
Expertise in PL/SQL, SQL, database design principles, stored procedures, packages, triggers and performance tuning.
Strong working knowledge of Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle Database and DB2 technologies.
Experience with APEX, Shell Scripts and Pro*C.
Knowledge of Order Management Systems and retail integration patterns.
Familiarity with Workato, Kafka, Automic and enterprise middleware or automation platforms.
Experience implementing DevOps practices for database deployments, including CI/CD and automated deployment of database scripts.
Strong understanding of secure development, data integrity, release management, environment management and support documentation.
Proven experience leading developers or technical squads in a complex enterprise environment.
Experience working with internal teams, vendors, offshore partners and business stakeholders.
