Job description
The Technical Lead – Retail POS Systems provides technical leadership for our retail POS implementation, owning the design, customization, and delivery of the POS codebase end to end — from architecture through cloud deployment and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Own technical design and architecture decisions for POS customizations and extensions
Lead a team of developers — code reviews, technical mentoring, delivery ownership
Architect, deploy, and operate cloud-hosted POS-adjacent services (APIs, integration middleware, containerized deployments)
Drive technical delivery on Oracle Retail platforms (Xstore, RMS, ORCE) or equivalent enterprise retail suites
Translate business/functional requirements into technical design specs and extension patterns
Own integration architecture between POS and upstream/downstream systems (merchandising, payment, loyalty)
Manage technical risk, tech debt, and upgrade/patch impact assessments
Be the primary technical escalation point for the POS program
Must-Have Skills
5–6 years of software development experience, with significant hands-on POS or enterprise application development
Proven experience leading developers or owning technical delivery on a POS or enterprise platform
Experience architecting, deploying, and operating cloud-hosted services (AWS/Azure/OCI)
Experience with Oracle Retail (Xstore, RMS, ORCE) or other enterprise retail suites
Strong Java/J2EE and API/integration design skills
Comfortable owning architecture-level decisions, not just writing code
Nice to Have
Containerization/Kubernetes experience for POS deployments
Exposure to CI/CD pipeline design for retail platforms
Prior experience across a full POS implementation lifecycle (design → go-live)
